Puppets act as a vehicle for the self; expressing human idiosyncrasies through a subject ostensibly detached from its an object controlled, its movements caused by an unseen hand, but its design allows from spontaneity and movements outside of the Puppeteer’s control. As such, the Fly Puppet signals the experience of shame as it is felt. A metaphor for that uncontrollable shame that is often difficult to define or recognise. The Fly will be part of a larger film exploring that feeling of shame.
