Dr Shoshana Zuboff argues that capitalism has always functioned in the same way: Taking things that are not part of the marketplace and commodifying them. Whether this be a forest, the side of a mountain or in the case of ‘surveillance capitalism’ the private human experience.  Zuboff states that this unchecked surveillance capitalism is at odds with democracy, creating an Epistemic Inequality, an inequality of what we know and what is known about us.

One reason many people do not worry about this issue is because in some ways it is invisible, new listening, recording and monitoring technologies have been introduced slowly over the years. This project explores what it could look like if this kind of surveillance within intimate and private spaces was visualised.
